RESEARCH & PROJECTS

I’m currently working on several photo documentaries and academic projects. Some include:

COMMUNITIES OF COLOR | Communities of Color is an SPJ Region 12 initiative that seeks to provide a platform for collegiate journalist whose stories reflect and represent the news, issues and content found within the variety ethnic communities and populations of people within the SPJ Region 12 area (Arkansas, Louisiana Mississippi and Tennessee).

GRANDMOTHERS OF RICE | Obaasan no kome, although translated from Japanese as “Grandmothers of Rice”the project is a photo/video documentary delving into the lives of elderly women 65 years old and older with Asian and Southeast Asian heritage and who continue to work rice fields by hand without modern machinery.

JAPANESE SISTER CITY INTERNSHIPS | Originally called, “Zentsuji-El Dorado” Summer Internship, this program was created by me to provide Japanese students with an opportunity to intern within cities that have Japanese Sister Cities. This program is in its second year with plans to expand to more cities.

THE SOULS OF WHITE MOTHERS | A photo/video project that looks at the relationship between white mothers and their black sons within the United States of America.
